Why do we SIGH?

I was in carpool this morning and out of no where I let out this ((HUGE)) sigh..... the kids burst with laughter... 

It woke me up that I sighed and for me it was more of a relaxing breath than anything else... The kids normally hear me sign in general relating to a dissatisfaction response but this time it was FUNNY because it was out of no where!!! This morning was nice, this morning was timed right... you know those mornings. You see I live in South Charlotte and the way I start my day is driving into Ballantyne then into South Carolina then back into North Carolina up 485 to 77 and work. But so far even up to the sigh we were having a great time starting our day BUT WHY DID I SIGH so naturally?

When do you say "SORRY"?

Good Morning Monday!

As I ease back into the work week I check my inbox and start to reply... I get an  "Automatic Response"... Great! That means they are on it!!!! However it starts with a "Sorry"... The first thought it WHY ARE YOU APOLOGIZING??? Every takes time off... we NEED it... that's is why we take it... BUT to start off with an apology.... 

It's is something we all say... I'm Sorry for being late, for forgetting, for UMMMM being human basically! You get the point... but in an auto response... More like a thank you from me for being so kind to update your auto-response instead of me wondering why I haven't had a response :) 

So what I am getting at is why do we feel bad and need to suppress ourselves out of what we call guilt or formal protocol? Now I will say there are times we do need to apologize and that takes real sincerity but for the most part COME ON!

What started this: 

"Hello. I am sorry but I am currently out of the office on vacation. Please feel free to contact me on my cell phone at XXX-XXX-XXXX. I will gone from XX/XX/XX until XX/XX/XX. 

I will have limited access to my email and will make every effort to reply if I can.  

Have a great rest of your week/weekend, talk to you soon. "

Some people would say no biggie but it GETS OLD and that is a horrible state of mind to stay in when it's a FREAKING VACATION... or even something so mundane as taking a half day!

As I gain more perspective into why people say the things they do it helps me be more aware of what I am saying and doing and I LOVE IT!!!

How many kids live in your neighborhood?

How to find neighborhoods with A LOT OF KIDS...

So this morning I was on my normal commute in a neighborhood I moved into about a month ago... I love the area and was told by multiple people this neighborhood has a lot of kids. IT DOES

Normally the bus has already picked up the kids by the time I leave for work, not this morning, I guess I saw the older kids when normally I leave earlier and see the younger kids.

As I leave my street I see that there is about 15-20 kids on the corner, then I go down the street and another batch of kids and again and again... I was like geezzzz Louise!

My neighborhood looks like all the kids are all standing on all the street corners... mind you the elementary school has already had their buses come through and this is most likely middle and high school kids.

My brain automatically starts to compare the situation into a metaphor... "It like a kid ran through an ant hill and all the kids are the ants and coming out of all of their homes waiting to get on the bus"

I kept turning on to each street thinking OMG... there are SO MANY kids in this neighborhood, they sure weren't kidding Haha!!!!

So... Needless to say when looking into a neighborhood and you want to check out how many kids are REALLY in that neighborhood, take a walk or drive around early in the morning between the hours of 7-8 am depending on the schools bell times. The earlier buses are typically the younger kids and the latter are the older...

True story: The first bus I saw took 10 minutes to load all the kids and it was only 1 stop.... of I don't know how many still to pick up.

Which causes me to ponder "How many kids can fit safely on a school bus nowadays?"

TIP: When parking the car for your kid(s) to get on the bus make sure you are not where you still have to wait for them to ALL get on, park after the bus then once you see your kid(s) get on then you can leave and not wait for the bus to go :) you're welcome

Dinner Talk

Saturday night at dinner we were finishing up and were sitting around talking.

Mom: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Son: A Business Man
Mom: Oh really!
Son: What is a Business Man?
Mom: He sells things.
Son: OK
Mom: What do you want to sell?
Son: Whatever I have! No really, the clothes im wearing too!

So honest and innocent, yet it was hysterical at the moment!

Today grab a pumpkin and do something with it other than carve and display.... Try making a few different recipes, you can bake it or eat the seeds or use it as a added ingredient.

Mmmmm... I will keep y'all posted on what I create!  Post pictures of your favorite dish or a Jack-o-lantern!
